Day 17-The Other Shoe Dropped-NaPoWriMo with Magaly Guerrero 2015
The Other Shoe Dropped
Well, the wait is over.
The other shoe dropped.
Things seemed to be
going better.
But, it was there,
that anxiety that hides
behind the good times,
blackening everything
it touches
around the edges.
Call me psychic.
I knew it was coming.
Today's prompt was to let our poetry show how negativity breeds more negativity breeds more negativity...

Unfortunately, I know all about this. You related it very well. Good write Sharon.
Elena
You can never relax, can you? It spoils everything!
DeleteIt's like a contagion isn't it? And the anticipation of more negativity does nothing to halt it.
ReplyDeleteAnd, it can be spread, so contagion is the right word, Rommy! I myself have to guard against this. My mother was such a fretted, worry wart, and I think I inherited it. LOL
DeleteThat last line is such a slap in the face. It's like we know what is about to happen, because we're thinking it, and then... Boom! we make it happen again and again. Ouch.
ReplyDeleteAlways the last thing you want to be right about, too!
DeleteSharon what you said about your mom, is like my mom and she always thinks the worst first!
ReplyDeleteMe, no more!! Only good coming, after I get better ;o) LOL!
Great poem! Hugs ;o)
I have worked most of my life to lose that habit. I am a lot better, but it is hard to undo all of what you grew up with, especially if you don't realize it is a bad thing! Thanks for coming by, Stacy!
