Day 8--Heart Torn Out--NaPoWriMo with Magaly Guerrero 2015

Heart Torn Out

The harm had already been done.
Her shocked body did not realize it...yet.
The blood dripped from his hand.
In his eyes, a gleam.
"You, silly twit!
I gave you a gift,
a fortnight.
No more was I expected to give!"
Her eyes were wide,
her mouth, open.
"You fell in love?
I tore your heart out when I left?"
The beating in his hand had stopped.
"Well, dear girl,
I didn't then,
but, I have now!"

The purpose of today was to weave a poem that explored the difference between hurt and harm.

    1. It is a sad truth that a lot of us know how this feels. Sigh...

  2. Yeah...I was the awkward nerdy girl growing up so, this feels pretty familiar too

    1. The only girl in the Science Fiction aisle in the bookstore or library. I always had to hide the covers from everyone!

  3. This one speaks to every one of us who went back, and let them do it again, thinking that it could be fixed...

Thank goodness for time... even if the hurt leaves all kinds of scars anyway.

    1. Two hard words, hurt and harm. Both nouns, both verbs. Both leaving scars.

  4. My heart fell when I saw the art, and the depth of despair was even more visual in the poem x

    1. Thank you! I couldn't find a picture I wanted, so I channeled the sad little girl that I think we all have inside.

    1. Thank you, Gina! My search history for yesterday could probably send me to jail. LOL

  6. This gave me a twist at the center, Sharon--a gruesome image that is not nearly as bad as the feeling it represents. The saving grace of having your heart ripped out by lies is that it gives you the opportunity to fill the hole with truth.

    1. So true, hedgewitch! The key is being brave enough to try again.
