Day 19-Sentinels-NaPoWriMo with Magaly Guerrero 2015

The Sentinels

We are Sentinels
for the Earth,
holding the soil,
sheltering the deer
and the silky huntress.

We have fed you,
provided refuge,
given safety
from predators
as you sit
in the circle
Of our fire.

In return,
you have poisoned
the very rain
that comes,
left the soil lethal
for seed and sapling.

Now, human,
We are your canary
in the mine.

The prompt is about trees!

    1. I feel that it is so true! We have ignored the extinction of so many species, but when the trees go, so will we. Thanks, Rommy!

  3. Nice and angry. If I was a tree I'd be pissed off at us too. :-)

  4. I hope I can at least make the trees in my garden smile a little....it makes me sad to think how badly others are treated XXX

  5. Chilling, indeed, and unfortunately, all too true. I sometimes feel that the natural world, which gives us so much, has become a mad scientist's playground.
