Day 26-Everything Changed-NaPoWriMo with Magaly Guerrero 2015

Everything Changed

I have screamed at you
and the circumstances
that brought you into my life.
Nothing changed.

I have wept
at the inconvenient times
you visit,
the inconsistent length
of your stay.
Nothing changed.

I have tried to ignore you.
You ended up being meaner,
stubbornly resisting efforts
to get you to leave.
Nothing happened.

I have decided to accept you.
My life will never be the same
as before you came.
I am finding ways
to accomplish what I need to do
whether you are here or not.
I may scream again.
I will weep again.
But, for now, just by accepting you,
everything changed.

Todays prompt was to metaphorically sit in front of the thing (or person) that ails you and let your poem tell what is exactly on your mind.

    1. As long as it does not morph into giving up and that can be a very fine line. Thank you!

  2. I rather like this a lot - the change in the emotions, the escalating of frustration until at last a solution you can live with is found. Good stuff.

  4. Love the outcome and acceptance is always our greatest weapon against what ails us.

  5. Sharon, I love the beautiful circle you've crafted. There is balance in the tone, in the mood, in the way the speaker accepts what is happening without losing herself. And in the day, refusing to fight a battle she can't win changes everything.
